let it go
Thursday, October 25

One of the sad realities of life which I am most reluctant, yet constantly forced to accept, is the comings and goings of friendships in our lives. Often due to circumstances beyond our control, they are the result of obstacles set up through the divergence of paths through space and time.

It's painful, and despite myself telling many friends to accept it as part of life, a part of me still wonders, "Does this really have to be a part of life?" Learning to let go is hard.

It's a wonder that our hearts do not conditions themselves to shut out the rest of the world as a conditioned reflex to spare itself from the pain of loss, of friendships that have wandered over the passage if time. But we continue the search for new friendships, and to rekindle old ones, for the joy of these friendships far outweigh the pain we may eventually feel.
"I know these will all be stories someday. And our pictures will become old photographs. We’ll all become somebody’s mom or dad. But right now these moments are not stories. This is happening, I am here."
- Perks of Being a Wallflower
And so, we live another day to fight another fight. We continue striding on, with full confidence in God's provision for friendships to come our way, and in full appreciation of the impact that past and present ones have had in our lives.
"I've heard it's said that people come into our lives for a reason, bringing something we must learn. And we are lead to those who help us most to grow."
"And now whatever way our stories end, I know you'll have rewritten mine, by being my friend."
- For Good, performed by Kristin C. & Idina M.
Time to let go, and let God.

AMEN;
